Culti is a Danish company developing thoughtfully designed plant solutions built on one shared technology platform.
Where It All Began
Culti began with a simple ambition. Not to build another grow light.
But to make plants a natural part of modern interior design.
Founder Michael Lassen had spent years growing vegetables in greenhouses and at home, experimenting with everything from tomatoes and chilies to herbs and leafy greens. The vision was clear, but the technology wasn’t. Grow lights were designed for grow tents rather than homes, consuming too much power and producing harsh purple or overly bright light that never felt at home in everyday living spaces.
That changed when a new generation of highly efficient full-spectrum LEDs became available, making it possible to combine plant performance with energy efficiency and elegant design.
Development of the first Culti prototypes began in 2020. Starting with open-source hardware and software, every aspect of the electronics, firmware and user experience has since been redesigned, refined and developed into the Culti platform used today. This was followed by countless hours of testing in kitchen cabinets and handmade wooden shelving built in Michael’s own workshop.
In 2022, the first dedicated CultiKit prototypes were developed together with a Danish electronics engineer and manufacturing partners in Denmark and China. More than two years of testing, refinement and certification followed before CultiKit achieved CE approval in 2024, alongside the launch of the first version of the Culti firmware and CultiApp.
While the electronics platform has matured, development has continued in parallel on complete growing systems for soil, hydroponics and automated irrigation. Several concepts have already been fully developed and are planned for future production as Culti continues to expand its ecosystem.

The People Behind Culti
Culti was founded by Michael Lassen, a marketing professional with more than 25 years of experience in branding, digital marketing and product development.
Driven by a passion for both plants and design, Michael has spent the past several years developing the technology platform that forms the foundation of Culti today. From the first prototypes built in his own workshop to a commercially available product platform.
Although Culti started with one idea and one founder, building an international company takes much more than one person. Today, Culti is supported by experienced investors, engineers and strategic partners who contribute across product development, business strategy, manufacturing and commercial growth.
