Keep Supermarket Herbs Alive and Thriving
Tired of supermarket herbs dying after just a few days? In this video, Micahel show you how to repot them properly – and how our CultiKit and our self-watering pots can keep them fresh, healthy, and growing for weeks instead of days.
The result? Happy herbs, less waste, and way more flavor in your cooking.
- With CultiKit, your herbs stay healthy much longer thanks to proper light and ventilation.
- Self-watering pots make it easy – no need to think about daily watering, just fill the reservoir and let it do the work.
- The small supermarket herb pots fit perfectly into our small self-watering pots.
- Add 1–5 cm of LECA (clay pebbles) at the bottom for drainage, depending on size.
- Use a small amount of worm castings when replanting – it’s rich in nitrogen and micronutrients. Worm castings are organic, clean, and free from pesticides – ideal for edible plants.
- Add LECA at the bottom, make sure the wick touches water, and gently loosen the roots.
- Don’t rip the root ball apart – just loosen it slightly before adding soil around the plant.
- Use seed-starting mix, coconut coir (a mix of coir and perlite for airflow and drainage).
- Water the plant after replanting and give it a teaspoon of worm castings.
- Herbs might look a little sad at first – give them 1–2 weeks to bounce back before harvesting.
