🌱 Sprout Tomato and Chili – Step by Step
What you’ll need:
Seedling pots or trays
Small used pots from store-bought cuttings work fine.
If you’re sprouting for containers under 8-10 liters, you can sow seeds directly in the final pot.
(Your plants will usually grow better if you transplant them once or twice.)Good quality seed starting mix or coco coir
Coco coir is easy to find in blocks at garden centers or hardware stores – great if you have limited space.
If using coco coir, mix in ½ teaspoon of worm compost per pot for nutrients.Good tomato or chili seeds
Quality seeds = strong plants. Buy from trusted sellers with good reviews.Tweezers or a small spoon
To handle seeds without touching them (they’re delicate).Spray bottle (or gentle watering can)
To keep the soil moist without drowning it.
🚀 Let’s get started:
- Fill your pot or tray with soil.
Press it down lightly to make the surface even. - Make a small hole – about 0.5 cm deep.
- Pick up a seed with tweezers, or pour it onto a plate and move it into the hole.
- Cover the seed with 2–5 mm of soil so it’s protected from light.
- Spray the soil generously with water.
The soil should be moist – not soaking wet.
💡 While you wait:
Use a spray bottle to mist the soil once a day, or
Cover the pot with a lid or cling film – then you only need to check every 3–4 days.
Make sure the soil doesn’t dry out.
⏳ Germination can take 2–14 days, depending on the seed type and quality.
👉 Chili seeds often take longer – be patient and check the expected sprouting time on the seed pack.
If you’re using CultiKit:
The controller is pre-set for sprouting – it runs at 50% light by default.
Your seedlings need 12–18 hours of light per day.
Want to run 18 hours of grow light instead of 12?
➜ Click the controller button 3 times (the light will blink orange),
➜ or use CultiApp to adjust the light timer.
🌬 Fan:
Connect the fan after the seedlings have emerged.
It helps them grow faster, become stronger, and avoid mold and disease.
✅ That’s it!
You’re ready to grow. Tomatoes and chilies are on the way – homegrown and way tastier than store-bought.
